4 Mistakes Not to Make When Packing for Your Office Move to Denver

Office Moving - Office RelocationPacking up your office appears to be a straightforward chore, doesn't it? Especially if you're fairly tidy, it appears like all you'd be required to do is put your files in one box, your computer, monitor and mouse in another, load up your desk, and you’re done. Unfortunately, getting your office from here to there is often quite a bit more labor intensive than we tend to think it is. Luckily, sidestepping these frequent errors when it's time to pack up your office can save you a decent amount of stress when moving to Denver.

Mistake #1: Not Enough Organization

Whether you are planning to move yourself or have found a moving company to assist, the worst thing you can do when it is time to pack up is to go into it without taking a moment to get properly organized. You may think you are organized because you wrote a lonely item designation on the outside of the box, but what you need to do is prepare in advance what you are going to pack and in what order you're going to pack it. Then, you must precisely label what is where. Realistically, when you have your boxes loaded up, transported, and to their destination, you are going to forget which box has your power cords, and which one has your pens in it. So, write a list on each box of what's in it to escape digging, stress, and mass hysteria while you get your new office set up.

Mistake #2: Burying Things You Really Need

If you have ever moved your residence, you probably recognize that feeling of discovering the dishes you have not needed in a decade amid unpacking, but not being able to find the shampoo and fresh clothes you require for your morning routine. An office move can contain the same complication. That is the reason that you need to pack up the things you are not going to need urgently (such as your tax records from five years ago), and make sure they go on the moving van first. The items you will need promptly (your desk, your computer, your printer, etc.) should all be packed up last so they're the first boxes you remove from the truck. This approach helps negate your work interruption, and assists you to get right back on the job once you arrive at your destination.

Mistake #3: Not Using a Timeline or a Checklist

Moving an office to Denver is something that usually happens accumulatively, which is why it is vital to have the proper tools to understand your progress. You should have a timeline mapped out to plan how long it will take to pack up your things, the amount of time it will consume to move it, the amount of time it will take to unpack, and then the amount of time it will take to get everything set back up. The timeline must have some time in it for setbacks, and it should be accompanied by a checklist so you can check off tasks as they're done. If you plan to hire a professional moving company, they should aid you with this process. Flying by the seat of your pants isn't a very good choice for an office move.

Mistake #4: Bringing Stuff You Don't Need to Denver

Moving your office is a chance to start fresh, and to put your best foot forward. But, many people end up just moving everything with them, no matter if they really need it. That's why, before you even think about packing, you must go through every item in your office and think about if it needs to move to the new location. That broken shredder that you replaced and were storing in case you might get it rebuilt? Don't dirty up your new office with it. The box of old, but still working, computer mice you kept in case of an I.T. issue? Well, if they are several years old, they are most likely obsolete. That ream of musty paper that does not fit your printer? Recycle it or hand it to an employee for their children to scribble on. The more stuff you can dispose of (including digitizing old records so the paper copies are not needed) the smoother your move will be.
