National Moving Month is Here!

It’s May! If you’re like the thousands of other people out there, you know what that means! It’s National Moving Month once again!

Why has May been declared as National Moving Month? Well, the answers to that fact are that college students are done with their courses for the semester and are in the process of moving back home, school kids are letting out for their summer vacation so it’s easier to move without taking them out of their present customs, and that the weather is finally nice enough to furnish you with a good move. This means that moving companies are going to start getting really busy and their trucks will start moving people long distances or right down the road shortly.

Knowing this information, if you are planning a move here in May, there are a number of things that you need to think about. This includes:
  • Be sure that you plan as far ahead as achievable. This will allow you to easily adjust for all of the likely road blocks that can pop up.
  • Schedule your move with your moving company as far in advance as you can also. This will help you ensure that you’ll get the help you need on the days you require it without having to pay a lot more. Since this is the start of our busy season, it’s really imperative to reserve your moving truck and crew now!
  • Don’t wait to move till the end of the month. This is the normal time that folks like to try to plan their moves since their leases tend to go from the beginning of the month to the end. If you can schedule a weekend earlier, there’s a much better chance of being able to get ahold of a moving crew to help you with the heavy lifting.
  • Plan for the weather. Just because April Showers are a thing of the past doesn’t mean rain can’t pop up suddenly to interrupt your move.
