Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvSomething terrible that can happen when you move is breaking something important… specifically your television…. All of use at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it really sucks to finally get all moved in but not be able to relax in front of the TV because it broke. We want to make sure your move is as easy as we can here in Denver, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. That’s why we’ve put together this list of tips and tricks to use when you are you need to pack up your TV.

First and foremost, you require a box that’s will work for moving your television. The perfect box to use is the box that your TV originally came in – if you kept that. If you threw it out, you can get packaging made specially for moving televisions from somewhere like a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should use a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to shift around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile items requires packaging, preparation, and moving knowledge, not simply big moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move, even if that means securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly.

Before you start packing it up, you should take a photo of the back of your TV with the cords connected. This will make everything a lot easier when the time comes to reinstall your TV. After this, get your TV ready to go. Unplug it and take out the main power cord, then unplug any other connecting cords. Place everything into a bag together and keep it with the TV. You may have a base you need to separate from the television in order to fit it in the box. If this is the case, make sure to put all the parts inside a reclosable bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so it won’t get lost.

Once you’re finished, you can start to pack it up. No matter if your new home is far from Denver or you are only moving locally, it’s necessary to make sure your television is properly covered. You should use foam pieces to cover the TV screen, you will find some in your kit if purchased one, or in the box that your TV was in originally if you still have that. The foam doesn’t only keep the screen safe, but it also keeps your television from moving around in the box when you’re moving. Steady the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the TV and protect it from being scratched.

After your TV is completely covered up it’s finally time to place it in the box! Keep the television upright and secure it as well as you can by filling in holes with blankets or even clothes. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in its box.

If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered!
