Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvAn awful thing that sometimes happens when you’re moving is finding out your TV was broken. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it’s horrible to get to your new house with a ruined TV. We want to do everything we can to make your move as easy as possible here in Denver, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. That’s why we decided to put together this list of tips and tricks for getting your TV ready for the move.

First off, you require a box that’s will work for transporting your TV. The perfect box to use is the box that your TV first came in – if you kept it. If you threw it out, you can buy a box made specially for moving televisions from a hardware store or a moving supply retailer. You should find a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to move around when it’s inside. To move fragile items requires packing and moving knowledge, not just moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group we have a team of experienced movers who can help you with your move in any and every way you need, even packing up your television.

Before anything else, a great thing to do is snap a few pictures behind your television with all the cords plugged in. This will make it way easier when you have to reinstall your television. Then, start getting your TV ready to pack up. First take out the power cord, then all the other connecting wires and cords. Get everything into a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. You may have a base you need to separate from the television in order to get it into the box. When that’s the case, put everything into a reclosable bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so all the parts stay in one place.

After this is done, you can start to pack it up. It doesn’t matter whether you are moving far from Denver or you are simply moving locally, it’s important to know your television is completely covered. You should use foam pieces to cover the TV screen, these will come in your kit if purchased one, or in the box that your TV was in originally if you have it. The foam not only keeps the screen protected, but it also will stop your television from moving around in the box during the move. Steady the foam pieces by using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from becoming scratched.

After your TV is all covered up it’s finally time to get it in the box! Keep your TV upright as you do this, and get it secured by filling in spaces with blankets. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in the box during the move.

loading boxes into truck Finally, get the television in the truck. Place the box upright and get it next to or between other flat, sturdy furniture, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. You can’t forget to put important cables with the TV, whether they’re in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

After that you’re ready! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Denver to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.

Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
